It is with mixed emotions that I inform you, as of today, Joe Shmoe is no longer with NextIPOHomeRun Inc.
Joe has done a tremendous job selling our flagship product. We appreciate the hard work he has done and also who Joe is as an individual. We can all say that he has been a pleasure to work with.
You’re all well aware of the current financial crisis. However, I continue to feel confident about our unique position in the market and our sales traction. We’re building a great product that address real customer pains. We continue to receive tremendous support and validations from our VC investors. Let’s maintain our focus and keep moving forward.
We wish Joe and his family well and the best of luck in his future endeavors.

You’re probably familiar with letter like the one above — I just received one today.
I’m sad. I have a sick feeling in my stomach. A hard-working colleague was let go today. He even didn’t have a chance to say "goodby". He has a stay-home wife and two kids to support. It’s exactly 3 days before Thanksgiving.
This is what keeps me writing this blog — there is no loyalty from corporate America. Employees must take charge of their own careers, and help each other.
I want to do my part to help, to make recession less painful, and to create a support infrastructure so that hard-working professionals have a trusted place to turn to …
