Do you feel trapped?

September 22nd, 2008 · Comments

"I’m frequently taken advantage by others in the office. I’m just not good at office politics. I hate my job. I need to find a better place to work."

"I need to travel. I have been here and doing the same s*** for too long."

"I love the 4-hour-work-week life style. I want to figure out a way to stop doing what I’m doing, start getting away."

"I will go to get my MBA/JD/etc. I can’t take the craps from my work/my boss/my family/etc. any more. Once I get my MBA/JD/etc., I’ll be free to do anything I want."

Do you find yourself repeatedly say these to yourself? There is nothing wrong to look for a less political work environment, to get away and travel, to adopt 4HWW life style, to go back to school and make a career transition — you should be encouraged and commended for looking for changes and continuing to challenge yourself.

However, if you find yourself repeatedly looking for an escape, and continuing to feel "trapped", it’s time to search within. Are you part of the problem or part of the solution? What if you only have 7 days left on the earth. Will you still dream about all of these escapes and alternative plans?

True freedom comes from within, not from the external world. Look inside, and free yourself.
