Technical phone interview with amazon
(2 posts)-
I'm a software engineer. I have a phone interview coming up with amazon. I heard they ask detailed coding questions during phone interview. I'm pretty concerned about how to handle it. Any specific advice on technical phone interview?

You should practice the list of sample interview questions in the appendix of How to get a job at amazon. Those questions are the fundamental questions. The chance is that you'll be asked one or several of the questions on that list.
A big part of preparing for technical phone interviews is to make sure you're ready mentally. If there is one suggestion I can offer you, it'd be that if you need some time to gather your thoughts, don't hesitate to ask the interviewer to give you a minute or two. Interviewer understands answering technical questions over the phone is hard. Sometime you need time to think before you can speak intelligently. So, have a pen and a piece of paper ready. Take notes. Work out an outline on paper. Writing things down can really help you think and structure your answer.
Sometime the interviewer wants to see how you handle pressures. It's important to demonstrate that you can think on your feet, and you can structure the problem. Even if you don't solve the problem correctly, if you can show your approach/logic/structured thinking, it'd still be a plus.
