Breaking news: Autotrader.com lays off estimated 15% – 30% of staff in Atlanta

It happened on Friday without any warning. Cox Communications has been offering early retirement packages and getting the employees ready for layoffs for two months now (which it appears won’t happen) so Autotrader.com had plenty of time to know of the kill order.

An estimated 300 people were laid off at the headquarter in Atlanta, GA. The entire FSBO (for sale by owner) team was cut including management. Nearly half of the BIS/IT department is gone. There has been no official word from management to the employees on what happened yet. Also, none of the contractors were let go.

A lot of people showed up for work to find their work badges were deactivated and therefore were not able to gain access to the building. Then there was a big meeting that was setup off campus location in where only the people who were getting Laid Off were invited. They didn’t find out till at the meeting what was happening. And you guessed it…. They had to go straight home afterwards.

Not everyone was notified. Could you share the reason you were given on Wednesday and Thursday? I still haven't heard what happened.

please check your sources before you print that none of the employee's know what happened yet... everyone was notified Wednseday and Thursday...
